Agenioideus cinctellus

Agenioideus cinctellus is a Hymenoptera of the family of Wegwespen ( Pompilidae ).

Features

The animals reach a body length of 3.5 to 6.5 millimeters (females ) or 3.5 to 5.5 millimeters (male). Your abdomen is black, the rest of the body Coloration is very variable, so females can about red-brown legs or males have whitish spotted tibiae of the hind legs. Often the animals have eyes on the inner edge of an oval spot. In the similar Agenioideus usurarius the third tergite is colored red, head, thorax and legs are black.

Occurrence

The species occurs in Europe, in the south but only in the mountains before and lacking in Western Europe. It settles all dry and temperature- favored open habitats, even in urban areas. The animals fly in one generation from early May to late September. The species is found widespread in Central Europe.

Way of life

The nest is applied to a warm place in cavities such as cracks in walls, wood columns, snail shells or abandoned wasp nests. The breeding is generally supplied with crab spiders or jumping spiders. The species is parasitized by the cuckoo wasp Ceropales maculata.
