Al Joyner

Alfred Rick Joyner ( born January 19, 1960 in East St. Louis ( Illinois)) is a retired American triple jumper and Olympic champion.

Al Joyner is the older brother of the equally successful athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee and was at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the first American triple jump Olympic champion in 80 years. In the same year he married Florence Griffith Joyner, with whom he has a daughter. In a competition in 1987 he achieved his personal best of 17.53 m.

Since the death of his wife in 1998 he is chairman of the " Flo Jo Community Empowerment Foundation ". In addition, he is the owner and managing director of a marketing company. Since 2000, Joyner coaches the women's long jump team from the University of California, Los Angeles.

In 2003 he married Alisha Biehn, with whom he now has a son and a daughter.
