Al Sharqia Governorate

Ash- Sharqiyah (Arabic محافظة الشرقية Muhāfaza ash- Scharqīya, DMG Muḥāfaẓa aš - Šarqīya, German " the East ", also Scharkia ) is a governorate in Egypt with 5,354,041 inhabitants and is located in the eastern Nile Delta.

It is bordered to the north by the province ad Daqahliyya, on the east by the province of Bur Sa ʿ id al - Isma ʿ iliyya and, to the south by the Government al - Qahira and to the west by the provinces of al - Qalyubiyya and al - Gharbiyya. The administrative center is Zagazig.
