Albert Roßhaupter

Roßhaupter Albert ( born April 8, 1878 in Pillnach, today Kirchroth, † December 14, 1949 in Olching ) was a Bavarian politician (SPD ) at the time of the monarchy, the Weimar Republic and in the postwar period.

Life

Roßhaupter learned the refinishing trade, and was from 1900 to 1909 District Manager of the Association of South German railway workers in Munich. From 1909 he was editor of various leaves the labor movement.

From 1907 to 1918 Roßhaupter was a member of the SPD in the Bavarian Parliament. In the transition period between the fall of the monarchy and the choice of the Bavarian parliament on the basis of the Bamberg Constitution he held from 8 November 1918 until February 21, 1919 the Office of the State Minister for Military Affairs in the cabinet of Kurt Eisner. Pending the adoption of the Enabling Act of 23 March 1933 and the consequent non-re- convening of the state parliaments Roßhaupter SPD deputy remained in parliament. After the recomposition and DC circuit of the Bavarian state parliament as a result of the Nazi seizure of power in 1933, he took over the chairmanship of the SPD parliamentary group.

Roßhaupter rejected the seizure of power by the National Socialists from decided. As group chairman, he established on 29 April 1933, the rejection of the Bavarian Enabling Act by the SPD parliamentary group. 1933 Roßhaupter was arrested and interned in a concentration camp Dachau, among others. After his release in 1934, he was several times arrested again in 1944 for several months in the concentration camp Dachau.

After the war he was from 1945 to 1947 Bavarian labor and social affairs minister in the cabinets of Fritz Schäffer and Wilhelm Hoegner and Deputy Prime Minister. In 1946 he was a member of the Constituent State Assembly, where he was temporarily chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

1948/49, was Roßhaupter for the SPD Member of the Parliamentary Council.
