Background

After all concert recordings of the great love -over- gold - world tour turned out to be unusable for an album, the Hammersmith Odeon in London was rented for two concerts. From this, the album Alchemy, the first live album of the band was born. Because of its length it was released on two audio CDs or LPs. The album cover is characterized by two arrows, once towards each other, then away from each other. This was also the logo of the concert.

The first CD begins with a short intro, followed by Once Upon a Time in the West, which is characterized by Mark Knopfler's guitar solos. The live version of Sultans of Swing, one of the most famous songs of Dire Straits, is next to Telegraph Road, an epic piece with a length of about a quarter of an hour, the heart of the album dar.
