Aleksandra Krunić

Aleksandra Krunić ( Serbian Cyrillic Александра Крунић; born March 15, 1993, Moscow, Russia) is a Serbian tennis player. Krunić has so far won 13 ITF tournaments, including eight singles and five doubles titles.

On April 25, 2009 Krunić debuted in Serbia Fed Cup team in the match against Spain in doubles with Ana Jovanović against Lourdes Domínguez Lino and Nuria Llagostera Vives. Krunić was a finalist in the final of the junior girls double competition of the U.S. Open in 2009, with Sandra Zaniewska. Their first match on the WTA Tour, she contested the Banka Koper 2010 Slovenia Open 2010, where they took together with the former world number Jelena Janković Second, reaching the semi-finals. Krunić played her first singles match on the WTA Tour at the Poli - color Budapest Grand Prix 2011.

Personal

Aleksandra Krunić is the daughter of Ivana Bratislav uand Krunić who immigrated from Serbia to Russia. She has a sister named Anastasia. Krunić survived to this day in her hometown of Moscow and speaks Serbian, Russian and English.

Career

Youth

Krunić began seven years playing tennis at Spartak Moscow where future tennis stars like Anna Kournikova, Anastasia Myskina, Marat Safin, Igor Andreev and many others began to tennis. Since that time, she is trained by Edouard Safonov. 2006 Krunić reached the semi-finals of the junior competition of the Kremlin Cup, where she lost against the Bulgarian Dalia Zafirova. The following year, she won three junior competitions in Podgorica, Livorno and Maia. 2008 Krunić reached the quarter-finals of the European Junior Championships in Moscow and won the junior competition in Budapest. In 2009, she played in all Grand Slams in both the single and the double competitions. In April 2009, it reached number 17 their highest placing in the Juniorinennweltrangliste. Together with Bojana Jovanovski and Doroteja Erić she took part in the Serbian team in the European Championships of teams that were organized by the ITF and Tennis Europe.

Professional career

As a member of Red Star Belgrade Krunić won the national tennis championships of Serbia. On July 6, 2008, she won the tournament Prokuplje, Serbia became the youngest title winner of the year. In October 2008, she played two ITF tournaments in Dubrovnik.

At the Fed Cup play-off of the Serbian team against Spain Krunić Coach Dejan Vraneš was nominated for the first time. Serbia won the match 4-0 with two wins by Jelena Janković and Ana Ivanović against Anabel Medina Garrigues and María José Martínez Sánchez. Krunić debuted on 25 April 2009 in the doubles with Ana Jovanović against Nuria Llagostera Vives and Lourdes Domínguez Lino. Llagostera Vives and Domínguez Lino led 6:2, 1:0 had to be aborted when the game because of rain. In July 2009 Krunić won by the side of Ema Polić her first ITF doubles title against Aleksandra Josifoska and Cristina Tancu 6:2, 7:63 In August 2009, Krunić qualified for the ITF tournament in La Marsa, where she the second round of the Italian Francesca Mazzali 3:6, 2:6 defeated. At the tournament in Velenje, Slovenia, she won her second ITF singles titles. In the final, she defeated Nika Ožegović 6:3, 6:1. September 14 Krunić first appeared in the WTA tennis rankings at position 795 before she could win her third ITF singles titles in Dubrovnik, Croatia on October 18.

In January 2010 Krunić won her fourth ITF singles titles in Quanzhou, China, where the native player Zhou Yimiao in 6:3, 7:5 defeated. In May, she won the title in the individual competition in Moscow and entered the final of the double competition. Krunić denied her first match on the WTA Tour at the Banka Koper Slovenia Open in 2010, where she took on the side of Jelena Jankovic, the former world number two, and advanced to the semifinals.
