Aleksejs Å irokovs

Alexey Širokovs ( born February 20, 1981 in Riga, Latvian SSR) is a Latvian ice hockey player who is since 2011 in Kaszink - Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk in the Wysschaja Hockey League contract.

Career

Širokovs began his career in his hometown at HK Pārdaugava Riga. With the exception of the season 1999/2000, which he spent at Dinamo Riga '81, he played from 1998 to HK Liepaja Metalurgs, with whom he was Latvian champion twice and 2002, the East European Hockey League won.

In the 2003 /04 season he was in Serie A for SG Cortina on the ice. He then moved to the second-rate Russian Wysschaja League to Amur Khabarovsk. With Amur he reached the semifinals of the League in which his team at HK MVD Tver failed in 2005. In the following season Širokovs completed 18 games for Kapitan Stupino in Wysschaja League as well as two games in the Russian Super League with their partner team, the HK Dynamo Moscow before he was obliged Metallurg Novokuznetsk.

About Moskovskaya Oblast Chimik 2007 he came to Belarus to Metallurg Zhlobin, for which he completed 53 games in the Belarusian Extraliga, where he scored 40 points scorer. Before the season 2008/ 09 he was obliged by the newly formed KHL Dinamo Riga participants, for whom he scored ten points scorer in 48 KHL games. He was at times also captain of the Balts. In the summer of 2009 he returned to Amur Khabarovsk. Beginning of October 2010 was dissolved his contract with Amur and Širokovs first played in Latvia for the HK Ozolnieki / Monarhs before he received a sample contract with Lukko Rauma of the SM - liiga in November 2010. This was not renewed, so that he was not active in December 2010. In early January 2011, he was obliged by HC Kometa Brno in the Czech Extraliga. For the 2011/12 season, he joined the Kazakh club Kaszink - Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk, taking part in the operation of the game Wysschaja Hockey League.

Alexey Širokovs part in several international tournaments in the squad of Latvian Youth and Men's National Team.
