Alepocephalus tenebrosus

Black Heads ( Alepocephalidae ) are a family of deep-sea fish from the order of Alepocephaliformes. They live in the eastern Atlantic, the Mediterranean, the Western Indian Ocean and the Pacific, usually at depths of 300 to 2000 meters.

Features

They have a slim body and be 14 centimeters to one meter long. Her head is scaleless, many species also have a scaleless body. The teeth are usually small. The pectoral fins are supported 7-18 fin rays. The fish are mostly black (some types of light blue) and have light organs.

System

The Black Heads family is according to the latest findings paraphyletic (see Alepocephaliformes ) so that it is not likely to have existed in this form, as indeed the internal classification of Alepocephaliformes.
