Ales, Sardinia

Ales, the capital of the Marmillan, is a municipality in the province of Oristano in Sardinia in Italy with 1503 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012 ).

Location and data

The neighboring municipalities are Albagiara, Curcuris, Gonnosnò, Marrubiu Morgongiori, Palmas Arborea, Pau, Santa Giusta Usellus and Villaverde.

Ales is located at the foot of Monte Arci, a volcanic cone. This region has always played a crucial role in the economy Marmillan. Ales was once the smallest town with a bishopric in Italy.
