Bosa

Bosa is a town with 8008 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Oristano, west Sardinia. It is located about two kilometers from the sea by River Temo in a wide valley.

The Roman Bosa was originally further upstream at a hypothetical Phoenician settlement in the vicinity of San Pietro extramural church. The Roman city prospered thanks to the Port of Terrida ( Bosa Marina) that the mountain Sa Sea protected from the Mistral. At that time the mouth of the Temo was in front of Isola Rossa, which was not connected to the mainland.
