Alex Hicks

Alexander "Alex" Hicks ( born September 4, 1969 in Calgary, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. In the 2001 /02 season he was with the Cologne Sharks German masters. His father Wayne Hicks was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Alex Hicks began in his hometown of Calgary hockey crazy early with ice hockey. In 1988 he moved to the United States at the University of Wisconsin, where he played for four years. The shooting left winger drew attention to himself with excellent scoring values ​​- in three of his four seasons at the University, he scored more than twice as many points as he played games. However, he was never drafted by an NHL club. So he went in 1992 for two years in the East Coast Hockey League to Toledo Storm. There he played a large part of the games, but already got sporadic appearances in the American Hockey League with the Adirondack Red Wings, the former farm team of the Detroit Red Wings.

1994/95 he played a season for Las Vegas Thunder, before it began his NHL career for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the year. In his first season in the best league in the world, he was with the Disney Club, with regulars and played a few games in its farm team in the AHL. During the season 1996/97, Hicks was transferred after a few games of the Mighty Ducks to the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he played the rest of the season and the following on the side of Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr. The 1998/99 season he joined the San Jose Sharks, however, changed after only four games to Florida for the Panthers. After spending another year with the Panthers in which he, however, was often relegated to the AHL, he returned to the NHL to the back.

For the season 2000 /01 he moved to the German Hockey League to the polar bear Berlin. There, although he played very well and successfully, but was crowned the year for the polar bears not successful. He decided to leave the capital and signed a contract with the Cologne Sharks. In his first season on the Rhine, he won the German championship with the sharks and thus his first major title. The fact that he played a big part in the success, showing his 52 points scorer of 58 preliminary games and the fact that he was the most successful player in the play- offs. 2003 Hicks was with the Domstädtern runner-up and 2004 he won with the team the DEB - Pokal. After he had failed with the sharks in the semifinal, he ended his active career and returned back to the U.S. (Phoenix, Arizona).

Alex Hicks is married with his wife Sarah three children: Madison, Logan and Luke.

Alex Hicks initiative

In October 2003, Alex Hicks Alex Hicks founded the initiative together with his wife Sarah.
