Alexander von Fielitz

Alexander von Fielitz ( born December 28, 1860 in Leipzig, † July 29, 1930 in Bad Salzungen ) was a German composer.

Curriculum vitae

Fielitz studied in Dresden with Julius Schulhoff and Edmund Kretschmer. He was theater conductor in Zurich, Lübeck and Leipzig and taught several years thereafter at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin. In 1905 he became a teacher at the Conservatory and in 1906 conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Chicago. From 1908 he taught again at the Stern Conservatory, which he headed from 1915.

Compositions

Fielitz composed two operas ( Vendetta, 1891, The Silent Village, 1900) and numerous songs, of which especially the Tuscan songs were known. Also popular is his romance for piano and violin.
