Alexandru Iulian Maxim (born 8 July 1990 in Piatra Neamţ ) is a Romanian football player. He's since the end of January 2013 at VfB Stuttgart under contract.

Career

In the club

Maxim began with seven years with Olimpia Piatra Neamt playing football and went with 14 years of Ardealul FC Cluj-Napoca. In 2007 he moved to the youth of Espanyol. In 2009 he came to the squad of the second team in the Segunda División B. After the descent 2010, he joined the league rivals CF Badalona. There he was, however, rarely used, as the club just missed the rise in second place in the Segunda División. In summer 2011 he returned to Romania, where he took first division Pandurii Târgu Jiu under contract. There he became the master force and an international player.

On January 31, 2013 Maxim changed hands for 1.5 million euros to VfB Stuttgart. On 14 February 2013, came off the bench in the sixteenth -final first leg of the UEFA Europa League 2012/13 against KRC Genk and completed his first competitive use for VfB Stuttgart. His Bundesliga debut for Stuttgart gave Maxim on February 23, 2013 against 1 FC Nuremberg. His first Bundesliga goal he scored on March 30, 2013 against Borussia Dortmund ( 1:2 ) for interim 1:1.

National

Maxim was called to the squad for two friendly matches of national team coach Victor Piţurcă in May 2012. On May 30, he came against Switzerland on his first deployment when he came on in the 82nd minute for Gabriel Torje. In the World Cup qualifier against Andorra on September 11, 2012 he scored his first goal.
