Alexsandro de Souza ( born September 14, 1977 in Curitiba, Brazil), called Alex, is a Brazilian midfielder who stood from 2004 to 2012 Fenerbahce under contract.

Family
Since March 2000 he has been married in a civil ceremony with Dainanne, who was the daughter of the club president at the time. Together they have two daughters ( Maria Eduarda, Antonia ) and a son ( Felipe ).

Alex is regarded as a good and technically very accomplished playmaker who is also very goal threat. He has leadership qualities that he could show it had already done in the Brazilian national team in addition to his positions at club teams.
Club football
1995 to 2003
He began his career at Coritiba FC, there he moved to Palmeiras São Paulo. There he celebrated some success and won with the team the Copa Mercosur, the Copa do Brasil and 1999 Copa Libertadores. He was crowned by the IFFHS as the third best scorer in the world in 1999. In 2000, Alex played on loan at Flamengo Rio de Janeiro before he signed a contract with AC Parma in Italy. But before the season got started in Serie A, he returned to Palmeiras. In his short time at Parma he scored 2 goals in 5 games and 7 templates. With the Brazilian club in 2001 he reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores. In the summer of 2002, he moved to Cruzeiro, where he was captain. Until the 2003/04 season pass him 64 goals in 121 games for Cruzeiro. In the season 2003/ 04 even Alex scored 25 goals, including one game in a penalty hat-trick. He was elected in 2003 to Brazil's player of the year.
Fenerbahçe SK
In June 2004 he signed with Fenerbahce a three -year contract after a previously planned change in Turkey had burst in winter. In the 2004/2005 season, he led Fenerbahçe with 25 goals for the league title, having supplied even 19 templates. In the season 2006/2007 he was charged with 19 goals scorer in the Turkish league. He is so far the only foreign Fenerbahçe footballers, who was top scorer and the first Brazilian, who was top scorer in the Süperlig. In 2007 he extended his contract with Fenerbahçe for a further two years until 2009. Having Ümit Özat, Tuncay Şanlı and Rüştü Reçber left the club, Alex became the new captain of Fenerbahçe. On 1 November 2008, he scored his 100th goal for Fenerbahce. In early 2009 he extended his contract with Fenerbahce again, this time until 31 May 2011.
On 16 August 2009 he made his 150th league appearance for Fenerbahce. On September 12, 2011 Alex has completed his 900th game against Orduspor. On September 16, 2011, he made his 300th game for Fenerbahce.
The club's fans set up an initiative and sought permission to build an independently funded statue of Alex to. Then, a statue of him was erected in Yoğurtçu Park and inaugurated on 15 September 2012. She stands next to the statue of club legend Lefter Küçükandonyadis. Alex represented his country at the tournaments to the Copa America in 1999, 2001 and 2004, which he also won in 1999 and 2004.
