Alix of France

Alix of France (* 1150, † 1197/1198 ) was the second daughter of King Louis VII from his first marriage to Eleanor of Aquitaine. She was baptized by her aunt Petronilla, which was also called " Alix ". The birth of a second daughter, instead of the required son overshadowed the already broken marriage of their parents even more, after which the connection was canceled.

Alix and her older sister Marie were separated from the mother, who had to leave promptly France, went to Poitiers, and there married the future King Henry II. The children Alix and Marie were declared legitimate. Ludwig married twice more. Alix's half-brothers ruled in France ( Philip ) and England ( Richard and John ).

1164 she married Theobald V of Blois, her sister whose brother Henry. As Alix's husband moved east, she took over the regency, which she did on behalf of their minor son, even after his death in 1191.

From the marriage with Theobald V of Blois came seven children:

  • Prince (France)
