Allmendingen is a municipality of the Alb- Donau district in Baden- Württemberg about 25 kilometers west of Ulm and 4 km north of the county town Ehingen (Donau).

Geography

Geographical Location

The nucleus Allmendingen is on the Schmiech in a original eroded from the ancient Danube valley, which separates the easternmost Hochsträß from the rest of the Swabian Alb. The highest point on the Bergen Lutheran ( Ennahofen ) is 750 meters above sea level. NN.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the city Schelkingen, to the east by Altheim, in the south and west by the city Ehingen. The exclave Niederhofen bordered to the north and east on the town of Erbach, to the south by Oberdischingen and Öpfingen.

Community structure

The community Allmendingen consists of the part locations Allmendingen ( 3304 inhabitants on April 30, 2009), Ennahofen (266 inhabitants), Grötzingen ( 296 inhabitants), Niederhofen (375 inhabitants) and Weilersteußlingen (249 inhabitants). For Teilort Allmendingen include the districts of Great Allmen things, small things Allmen and swivel hamlet, the hamlet of Hausen ob Allmendingen and the homestead Siegentalhof. The part places Ennahofen and Grötzingen each include only the villages of the same name. For Teilort Niederhofen include the hamlet Niederhofen Pfraunstetten and Schwörzkirch and the homestead brickyard. This little haven is an exclave, as is a city belonging to Ehingen strip between its surface and the remaining Allmendinger municipality. For Teilort Weilersteußlingen include the village and the hamlet Weilersteußlingen Ermelau.

Within the area are several Outbound, now-defunct villages. In the district Allmendingen north of Hausen is the deserted village Augsdorf. History

Earliest evidence of human settlement is the discovery of a brick kiln from the period of Roman occupation in the district Niederhofen.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Argent, under blue shield main, is three golden balls ( loaves ), a black, rotbezungtes, upright horse.

The coat of arms combines elements of the coat of arms of the lords of Freyberg (balls), whose history is closely connected with the Allmen thingy, and the bourgeois family Renner ( horse), which also had possessions in Allmendingen.

Allmendingen is on the Donautalbahn from Donaueschingen to Ulm and regional rail stop. There are so hourly rail connections to Ehingen (Donau) and to Ulm. Allmendingen is incorporated into the Danube -Iller - Nahverkehrsverbund.

The municipality is situated on the main road 492 Ehingen - Blue Beuren, which leads to the village around.

Established businesses
