The Alta Airport is an airport in northern Norway. It is located six kilometers northeast of the center of Alta. Operator of the airport is the Norwegian state-owned enterprises Avinor.
History
The Alta Airport was opened in 1963. For the construction of the airport land was artificially erected to bypass a building in the hilly countryside on the south bank of the Altafjords.
Compounds
The Alta airport is served by the airlines SAS, Norwegian and Widerøe (September 2013). Scheduled flights there after Båtsfjord, Hammerfest, Honningsvåg, Kirkenes, Lakselv, Mehamn, Oslo, Sørkjosen, Tromsø and Vadsø; additional charter flights to Bourgas are offered.
