The Rajongemeinde Alytus ( Lithuanian: Alytaus rajono savivaldybė ) in Lithuania encloses the Alytus city municipality in the district of Alytus. In the city of Alytus is also their administrative headquarters. It is centrally located in the south of the country in the historical region Dzukija.

It is traversed from south to north from the Niemen. West of the river, the landscape is rich in natural lakes, an eastern continuation of the Białystok and Masurian lakes. The population in 1989 was 97% of Lithuanians.
