Américo Amorim

Americo Ferreira de Amorim ( born July 21, 1934 in Mozelos, Portugal) is a Portuguese entrepreneur. He owns 50 percent of the Amorim Group. After completion of training in the commercial, he rose to nineteen years in the parental Korkgeschäft and founded in 1963, together with his three brothers António Joaquim José Amorim and his uncle Henrique, the company Corticeira Amorim, a conglomerate that, among others, on the cork market is active; next to the cork industry, the Group has invested in areas such as real estate, energy, tourism, the financial sector and in the development of natural products.

Américo Amorim is on the current Forbes list of 2010 world's richest entrepreneurs ranked 212, and with $ 4 billion fortune richest man in Portugal. The company founded in 1870 is one of the largest multinationals of Portuguese origin. With shares of the Amorim Group, Corticeira Amorim, Galp Energia and Banco Popular, Amorim is 25 percent of one of the main shareholders of Banco BIC Português ( BIC), the third largest bank in Angola, and the Angolan cement manufacturer Nova Cimangola.

Américo Amorim is part of the third generation of the Amorim family, married and has three daughters and five grandchildren.
