Ammeldingen an der Our

Anmeldingen is a municipality in the Eifel region in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate and belongs to the municipality of New Castle.

Geography

Ammeldingen lies directly on the border with Luxembourg on the east bank of the Our ​​River border. The small town is crossed by the extending in a north-south direction County Road 5; the county road 3 starts in Ammeldingen and leads to the east. In the northwest Gentingen is three kilometers away, in the southeast of Walldorf ( 3 km) and in the northeast Niedersgegen ( 3 km). History

The first mention was made in the year 767 from 1570 a chapel is registered. Ammeldingen belonged to the late 18th century to the Luxembourg county of Vianden.

In 1794, French revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, which included the county of Vianden, occupied and annexed in October 1795. Under the French administration of the city from 1795 to 1814 belonged to the Mairie at Walldorf in the canton of Vianden, which belonged administratively to District Diekirch in the forests department.

Due to the decisions on the Congress of Vienna, the former Luxembourg territory east of the Sauer and the Our 1815 assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. 1816 the community Ammeldingen administratively for mayor Walldorf in the newly formed district of Bitburg and was from 1822 until the end of World War II to the Rhine province.

After the First World War, the town was temporarily occupied by the French.
