Amputechture

Amputechture is the title of the published on 8 September 2006 album by the progressive rock band The Mars Volta. It is the third studio album by the band was founded in 2001.

Like the previous album also Amputechture by guitarist Omar Alfredo Rodriguez -Lopez was directed and produced and written by lead singer Cedric Bixler - Zavala. Were implemented, the compositions of Isaiah Ikey Owens ( piano ), Juan Alderete De La Pena ( bass), drummer Jon Theodore, who left the band after completion, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, Paul Hinojos - Gonzales, who already at At the Drive- In cooperated and Marcel Rodriguez- Lopez, Adrian Terrazas - Gonzales and Sara Christina Gross. The recordings took place in Australia in Los Angeles, El Paso and Melbourne.

The fictional term " Amputechture " consists of the words " amputate " ( = remove, remove, to amputate ), " Architecture" ( = Architecture ) and " Technology" ( = technology, technology) together, is thus a portmanteau word. The cover shows a picture (Big Mutant ) of the surrealist painter Jeff Jordan. On the Disk his image Dwarf Dancing is seen.

After the first two albums had a thematic thread, the lyrics come on Amputechture without a substantive theme, but are again of a very pessimistic mood with clearly recognizable religious references coined.
