Amyclas of Sparta

Amyklas (Greek Ἀμύκλας ), son of Sparta, and division, is in the Greek mythology, the fifth king of Sparta and brother of Eurydice.

Amyklas married Diomede, daughter of Lapithas, and begat with her Argalos, Kynortas, hyacinth and the daughters Laodameia (also called Leaneira ), Hege Sandra and Polyboia. From Parthenius of Nicaea, he is also referred to as the father of Daphne. He founded a city near Sparta and called it Amyklai

Amyklas was succeeded by his eldest son Argalos. In Amyklai there was a sanctuary of Amyklas, the Amykläum.
