André Lacroix (ice hockey)

André Joseph Lacroix ( born June 5, 1945 in Lauzon, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player ( center ), who from 1967 to 1980 for the Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks and Hartford Whalers in the National Hockey League and the Philadelphia Blazers, New York Golden Blades, Jersey Knights, San Diego Mariners, Houston Aeros and New England Whalers played in the World Hockey Association.

Career

As a junior he played with the Quebec citadels in the Quebec Junior Hockey League, before he moved to the Peterborough Petes in the OHA. In the Quebec Aces, he collected in the American Hockey League his first experience at senior level.

With the great expansion of the NHL for 1967/68 season new players were sought for the league. The Philadelphia Flyers had bought the Quebec Aces as a farm team. Lecroix was to be, as the Flyers took him for 18 games in the NHL on the way to the top scorer in the AHL. This cost him the title of Topscorers, but with 14 points, he was able to convince in the NHL. In the next two years he was the top scorer of the Flyers. After then, however, did not make it to the 1971/72 season in the squad, they gave him from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Establishing the World Hockey Association, he decided to seek his fortune. In the Philadelphia Blazers, he became the first scorer of the league. In the second season he played for the New York Golden Blades, one of the weakest teams in the WHA. But here it was possible to shine him. He managed 111 points and led the league with 80 assists. The team moved even during the season to New Jersey and later to San Diego, and he played from the season 1974/75 three years for the San Diego Mariners, before he moved to the Houston Aeros. The last season of the WHA, he played with the New England Whalers. No other player played more games in the WHA as he and the categories of points and templates he holds the peak values ​​.

He stayed with his team, that in the NHL Hartford Whalers now was still called for 29 games before he ended his career.
