Andrea Hübner, 1973

Andrea Hübner ( born February 17, 1957 in Karl- Marx-Stadt ) is a German former swimmer who took up for the GDR.

The highlight of her career she experienced at the beginning of her career when she won the title over 200 meters individual medley at the first World Swimming Championships 1973 in Belgrade in world record time. She also won the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay in the GDR. A year later she won the silver medal at the European Championships in Vienna on their special way. After only two years on the international stage, she ended her swimming career in 1974. She started for the SC Karl- Marx-Stadt. In 1974 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Today Andrea Hübner works as a doctor and lives near Stuttgart. She is the sister of the multiple track cycling world champion Michael Hübner.
