Andreas Felix von Oefele

Andreas Felix von Oefele ( born May 17, 1706 in Munich, † February 24, 1780 same place ) was a German historian and librarian.

The son of a Munich innkeeper began after the visit of the Jesuit Gymnasium in Munich (today Wilhelmsgymnasium Munich) and the study of law, history and theology in Ingolstadt and lions in 1723 with the drafting of the " life stories of the most learned men of Bavaria" (10 vols ). In 1727 he was librarian of the German country team in Leuven, 1734 Educator of the Bavarian prince Clemens and Max, the sons of Prince Ferdinand Maria.

When in 1746 the Court Chancellor Franz Xaver Josef von Unertl Court Library and Secret Archives had to give, Oefele was by Elector Max III. Joseph appointed as " Electoral Council, Bibliothecarius and Antiquarius " the board of the Court and State Library, an office which he held until 1778 for health reasons. Along with Johann Georg von Lori, Franz Töpsl and Johann Georg Dominicus of Linprun he was instrumental in the founding of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, for their scientific member, he was appointed in 1759. In recognition of his achievements Oefele in 1772 also raised to the peerage.

The huge estate Andreas Felix von Oefele is located in the Bavarian State Library.
