Andrei Plekhanov

Andrei Viktorovich Plekhanov (Russian: Андрей Викторович Плеханов; born July 12, 1986 in Nizhnekamsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with Sibir Novosibirsk HK in the Kontinental Hockey League since September 2013.

Career

Andrei Plekhanov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, for the second team, he was active from 2002 to 2004 in the third-class Perwaja league. In 2004 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected in the third round as a total 96 players from the Columbus Blue Jackets, for which he, however, never played. Instead, the defender moved then to the Sarnia Sting in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League, in which he denied, however, only two games before he returned to Nizhnekamsk, for whom he played until 2007 in the Russian Super League. In parallel, he was in the 2004/05 season for Neftjanik Leninogorsk in Wysschaja League, the second Russian league, and for the second team of Molot - Prikamye Perm Perwaja league on the ice.

From 2007 to 2009, Plekhanov played for Columbus' farm team, the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League and the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL. Then he returned to Russia, where he scored two goals and an assist for the HK Dynamo Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League during the 2009/10 season in 27 games.

For the following season Plekhanov was obliged Dynamos League rivals Amur Khabarovsk, for which he completed 30 KHL games. In June 2011, Plekhanov was taken from Atlant Mytischtschi under contract. He remained there but without the use, after which he joined the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL in December 2011.
