Andrew McMahon

Andrew Ross McMahon ( born September 3, 1982 in Concord, Massachusetts) is an American singer and songwriter. He is the lead singer, pianist and songwriter of the band Something Corporate and also works with another own band called Jack 's Mannequin.

Life

Andrew Ross McMahon was born on September 3, 1982 in Concord, Massachusetts, plays piano since the age of eight. In 1991 his family moved to Bexley, Ohio where he attended the Cassingham Elementary School and became a local legend, when he was playing solo piano pieces before he could even read music. After moving to Orange County, California, in 1997 he founded his first band called Left Here together with his high school friends and future Something Corporate members Kevin Page (bass) and Brian Ireland ( drums).

Although the band won a local band contest, she died quite soon. McMahon took on with the help of some friends, including guitarist Josh Partington, a self-titled CD with four tracks. In 1998, McMahon, Page, Ireland, Partington and guitarist Reuben Hernandez (later replaced by William Tell ), the piano rock band Something Corporate. In 2005, Andrew McMahon was diagnosed with leukemia, but which he could defeat after a long battle and is now fully recovered. During this period of his life he founded the charity organization called the Dear Jack Foundation, which primarily supports children who was diagnosed with leukemia.

Something Corporate

With McMahon as the leader of Something Corporate took their 2000 demo album Ready ... Break up with 10 songs. This earned them a record deal with the indie record label Drive- Thru Records. 2001 brought the band under this label world out their first EP Audio boxer. McMahon's vocals, his songwriting and especially his piano playing brought the CD good reviews and made the MCA (now Geffen ) aware of the band. Due to a contract between the two record labels MCA could take the band under contract and so to bring out the second album Leaving Through the Window in May 2002.

The band went on tour in the U.S. to promote the album. In addition, they were seen as support of New Found Glory on their European tour.
