Andrew Talcott

Andrew Talcott ( born April 20, 1797 in Glastonbury, Connecticut, † 1883 in Richmond, Virginia ) was an American surveyor, who also dealt with astro- geodetic methods.

According to him, the Dane Peder Horrebow (18th century) is the Horrebow - Talcott method for the precise determination of astronomic latitude named the 1833 Talcott refined.

Talcott was Captain of the U.S. Corps and used 1834, a zenith telescope with ocular micrometer and mechanical circular graduations. The now common photographic zenith telescope is one of the most accurate instruments of the astronomical position determination and for the monitoring of polar motion further developed.
