Andrey Petrov

Andrei Pavlovich Petrov (Russian: Андрей Павлович Петров, scientific transliteration Andrey Pavlovich Petrov, born September 2, 1930 in Leningrad † 15 February 2006 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian composer, of both classical music, and music for over 80 Soviet and Russian films wrote.

Life

Andrei Petrov graduated from the Rimsky -Korsakov College of Music in 1949 and the Leningrad State Conservatory in 1954. He wrote numerous classical works for ballet ( including bank hoping creation of the world, Pushkin), operas (Peter the Great) and symphonies ( Vivat, Olympus). He maintained a close friendship with Dmitri Shostakovich.

Andrei Petrov became one of the most sought-after film music composer, and won a number of state premium, as in the years 1967, 1976 and 1980.

His film tunes were nationally popular and well known. Works that came from his pen, not infrequently led an independent life of its own from the film and were perceived to be general cultural. That was, in his words, the greatest reward that could be given to him as a composer.

Andrei Petrov died on 15 February 2006 to the consequences of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was buried on the Wolkowo Cemetery in Saint Petersburg.
