Ängelholms FF

Ängelholms Fotbollsföreningen is a Swedish football club based in Ängelholm.

History

Ängelholms FF created in 1976 from the merger of Ängelholms IF and GIF Skörpinge.

Ängelholms IF

The story of Ängelholms FF goes back to the year 1905. At the time Ängelholms Idrottsförening was founded. 1932, the team first appeared in the nationwide football, as they rose 3 Sydsvenska in the third class division and created two years later promoted to the Division 2 Södra. 1937 this first game has ended in Sweden's second highest league table as ninth in the relegation zone. However, two years later managed to return, but the team is directly descended again with just one win this season. Thus, the team adopted from the higher-class football. Only in the 1950s and 1960s Ängelholms IF could draw as an elevator between the third and fourth team league again some attention to this, but is established towards the end of the decade in the Viertklassigkeit where the club played until the merger.

Skörpinge GIF

Skörpinge GIF was founded in 1950 and developed over the next two decades to local competition from Ängelholms IF. In the season 1969, the two teams met in the Division 4 Skåne Nordvästra first time in a competitive match against each other and Skörpinge GIF could be placed in the following years until the merger several times as the best team Ängelholms ahead of local rivals.

After the merger

Flying visit to the third division (1976 - 1981)

In the season 1976, the first season after the merger, missed the team behind Gunnarstorps IF as runner-up of Division 4 Skåne Nordvästra promotion to the third division. After a third place in the following season the team reached the summit in 1978 as a fourth division champions.

For Ängelholms FF it went straight away to stop a decline that has been done in the first year thanks to the better goal against Lunds SK. After a seventh place with four points clear of the relegation places, was in 1981 as the last but one class no longer be held.

In no man's land of the league pyramid (1982 - 2000)

In the following seasons, the team could only earn places in midfield, until 1986, the first place it has been played. However, since a league reform in Sweden took place, although one came in the Division 3, but remained viertklassig. Here you missed but the league and put up at the Fünftklassigkeit.

In the 1990s Ängelholms FF shuttled between the fourth and fifth level of play. At the end of the decade, the team established in the top flight of the fourth division and managed in 2000 as champions of Division 3 Södra Götaland return to the third division.

Between the second and third league (2001 -)

In the third division Ängelholms FF knew how to surprise and managed with twelve wins and four draws in 22 games this season the season victory. In the rise of games to Superettan the team met Ljungskile SK and managed a 1-1 draw with a 2-0 home victory march through to the second division. The newcomer found himself right in the relegation battle again and missed despite coach change - Mats Jingblad took over the post of coach Lars Jacobsson rise - with one point behind IF Sylvia Norrköping from relegation.

As relegated to Ängelholms FF established in the top tier of Division 2 Södra Götaland. Twice missed the team as a runner-up to return to the second division. In the third year was only the fifth place and the club therefore had to because of the upcoming league reform at the place in the new third division tremble. In the relegation round, the team met Myresjö IF and Torslanda IK. After Ängelholms FF and IF Myresjö each had won against Torslanda IK, were the two teams established as the third division and accounted for the final duel between the two clubs.

In the new Division 1 Södra FF Ängelholms be found again in no man's land of the table and finished with ten wins and ten defeats the eighth. In the following season the team was able to dominate the league first and led the table for a long time unbeaten on. Towards the end of the season but was allowed after but could Thanks to the excellent first round behind the Gothenburg club Qviding FIF celebrate the runner and thus a return to the Superettan.
