Angelika Schafferer

Angelika Schafferer (born 27 January 1948 in Rinn ) is a former Austrian luger.

Early in her career Schafferer was active in tobogganing. It was 1968 Austrian Champion in 1970 and won the European Cup. In 1971 the first Austrian league title followed on the artificial track, which she won six times in a row from 1973 to 1981 ( from 1974 to 1976 were no championships held ). Schafferer took from 1972 to 1980 three times at the Olympic Winter Games in part: In 1972, she was in Sapporo Eleventh, 1976 in Innsbruck Eighth and Seventh in 1980 in Lake Placid. 1978 Schafferer won the bronze medal at the World Championships in luge in Imst. It remained the only medal at major events in her career, but dominated the Tyrolean at the beginning of the newly introduced World Cup this contest and won it three times in a row ( 1979, 1980 and 1981).
