Anja Garbarek
Anja Garbarek ( born July 24, 1970 in Oslo, Norway ) is a singer- songwriter.
As the only child of saxophonist Jan Garbarek, she grew up in the area of Oslo. Despite the musical environment and their enthusiasm for music Anja Garbarek never learned an instrument, but instead tried a career as an actress.
During her time at drama school Anja Garbarek sang as part of a musical performance on stage and was discovered by representatives of the Norwegian music industry. In 1992 they released their debut album Velkommen inn and a tour followed.
1997, one year after the release of their second album Balloon Mood, Garbarek moved to London and signed a contract with Virgin Records, but released only in 2001 the next album with the name Smiling and Waving. With him, she was awarded the Spellemannprisen in category " Open Class ".
Anja Garbarek married Jon Mallison and became the mother of a daughter. Together with her family in 2003 she moved back to Norway.
In 2004 she met at a studio visit Gisli, an Icelandic- Norwegian artists. Inspired by the music, she began with him in the work for a new album. Also by her father, she was supported.
