Anna Biryukova

Anna Birjukowa (Russian Анна Бирюкова, English transcription Anna Biryukova, maiden name Derewjankina, . Born September 27, 1967 in Sverdlovsk ) is a former Russian track and field athlete, who took until 1991 for the Soviet Union. At a height of 1.74 m her competition weight was 60 kg.

Anna Birjukowa began her career in the long jump. She was third in 1989 and 1990, second in the championships of the Soviet Union. Once in March 1992 their son Aleksandr had come into the world, she returned in 1993 to the competition scene back, now as a triple jumper.

After she jumped in Bratislava in June 1993, 14.74 m, but with too much tailwind, she succeeded at the World Championships in Stuttgart, where it was held for the first time at the women's triple jump with 15.09 meters, a world record and the first jump of a woman on the 15 -meter mark at all. They thus won gold before the dethroned world record holder Jolanda Chen (RUS ) and Iwa Prandschewa (BUL ).

At the European Indoor Championships in 1994 Birjukowa won with 14.72 m silver behind her compatriot Inna Lassowskaja. Outdoors reach their 1994 three great victories. At the European Championships in Helsinki she won with her season best of 14.89 meters in front of Inna Lassowskaja and Inessa Krawez (UKR ). They also won the triple jump at the World Cup and at the Goodwill Games.

1995 succeeded Anna Birjukowa at the World Championships in Gothenburg with 15,08 m the second- longest jump of her career. Nevertheless, it was only third parties, as Inessa Krawez the third attempt with 15,50 m jumped the world record and also Iwa Prandschewa succeeded with 15.18 m of the longest jump of her career.

At the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta Anna Birjukowa missed with 14.19 m in 13th qualifying the final battle by one centimeter. In qualifying the World Championships 1997 Anna Birjukowa injured so badly that they never found its way back again to the world class.
