Anteuil

Anteuil is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Anteuil is located about 120 kilometers west of Basel and 150 kilometers east of Dijon. The village is located on a plateau at the southern foot of the Côte d' Armont and north of Lomont in the extreme northern hills of the Jura.

The area of ​​24.29 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Anteuil, the average is at 450 meters and has a width of almost 3 km and a length of about 4 km. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but also shows some forest areas, particularly in the West. Here the plateau decreases gradually towards the Doubs Valley from back. Flanked the plateau in the north of the Côte d' Armont, in the south of the Lomont about the mountain pass Col de la Ferrière ( 592 m) into the basin of Sancey. Both chains form in geological- tectonic terms anticlines, which are oriented in a west-east direction according to the strike of the Jurassic in this region. With 840 m is reached at the summit of the highest peak of Lomont Anteuil.

To the east, the municipality's area extends into the more in relief, blackboard jurassic -like northern foothills of the Montagne du Lomont with the Bois de Miémont, the heights of Bermont and the plateau of Tournedoz. The eastern boundary runs above the steep drop to the valley basin of Hyémondans. The whole area shows no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

History

In the Middle Ages, the area belonged to Anteuil for small rule Bermont, whose castle was built in the 13th century. The Lords of Bermont were vassals of the lords of Neuchâtel. After the castle Bermont of troops of King Louis XI. was taken and destroyed, came at the beginning of the 16th century reconstruction. During the Thirty Years War, the castle was destroyed again. Together with the Franche -Comté Anteuil came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. To a field change occurred in 1972 when the previously independent municipalities Glainans and Tournedoz merged with Anteuil.

Attractions

The Church of Anteuil was built in the 16th century in Gothic style. From the 19th century the Church of Tournedoz comes. The municipal area are in addition, the country chapels Saint -Marc and Chapelle de Combe- Violat. From the castle ruins Bermont are obtained.

Population

With 649 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Anteuil one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 791 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded during the 1970s again. Economy and infrastructure
