Anthem of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic

The anthem of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic (Estonian Eesti Nõukogude Sotsialistliku Vabariigi hümn ) was the Communist " National Anthem " during the occupation of Estonia by the Soviet Union. She was from 1945 to 1991 in the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic in use.

Words and Music

The music was composed by Gustav Ernesaks. The text is by John Semper. It was the only anthem of Soviet Socialist Republic, in which no reference was added to the Russian people. On July 21, 1956, the anthem was adopted by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Estonian SSR in the version below. At the same time a reference to Joseph Stalin was removed in the third stanza.
