Johannes Semper

John Semper (born 10 Märzjul / 22 March 1892greg in Pahuvere, then rural community Tuhalaane, today rural community Tarvastu, Viljandi County, .. † February 21, 1970 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian writer and translator, communist politician.

Life

Early years

John Semper was born into a family of teachers. From 1901 to 1905 Semper visited the Heine- Progymnasium in Viljandi, 1905-1910 high school in Pärnu.

He studied from 1910 to 1914 Philology at the University in the Russian capital Saint Petersburg. 1915/16 he took the tray architecture at the Riga Polytechnic, which was due to the war outsourced to Moscow. 1916/17 he was drafted into the Russian armed forces. He joined the military school in Moscow from the rank of ensign.

Policy

With the collapse of Tsarist rule in Russia Semper joined left revolutionary circles. In 1917, he was Deputy Chairman of the Estonian soldiers Main Committee ( Eesti Sõjaväelaste Ülemkomitee, Главный комитет войнов эстовъ ).

Semper was a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Party was founded in 1917 Estonian - revolutionaries ( Eesti Sotsialistide - Revolutsionääride party, ESRP ), the Estonian elimination of the Russian Socialist-Revolutionary Party ( Партия социалистов - революционеров ).

1919/20, belonged Semper of the Constituent Assembly of the Republic of Estonia ( Asutav Kogu ) that drafted the first constitution for the new state. The ESRP was the leftmost party in the Constituent Assembly. They had received seven of the 120 seats in the elections. In March 1920, the ESRP formed with the left wing of the Estonian social democracy, the Estonian Independent Socialist Workers' Party ( Eesti Iseseisev Sotsialistlik Tööliste party, ISTP ).
