Anthocercis littorea is a species of the genus Anthocercis in the nightshade family (Solanaceae ). It is endemic to Western Australia, an English common name is Yellow Tailflower.

Description

Anthocercis littorea is an erect, rarely spread growing shrub which grows to a height of up to 3 m. He strongly branched from the base, the branches and leaves are hairless. Seedlings, sporadic spikes on along the stem. The leaves are obovate to narrowly obovate, sometimes spatulate. You are fully or nearly sessile, 18-65 mm long and 4-31 mm wide. They are entire or toothed on young leaves and usually thick and fleshy.

The inflorescences are like grapes and interspersed with leaves. The flower stems are 2.5 to 7.5 mm long, the calyx 4 to 7.5 mm. The crown is yellow or pale yellow in color and with brown, purple - brown or maroon stripes and 14 to 32 mm long. Kronlappen are the linear, 10 to 25 mm long and 2-4 mm wide. The stamens are 3-8 mm long.

The fruit is a narrow ovate to narrowly ovate - elliptic capsule, which is sharp, pointed or tapered and is 9 to 19 mm long. Containing seeds having a length of 1.5 to 1.9 mm.

Occurrences and locations

The species is only found along the southern and western coasts of Western Australia and extends north to Shark Bay. It grows in calcareous sand and occurs especially after fires and other disturbances in the colonies.
