Antoine de Lhoyer

Antoine de Lhoyer ( born September 6, 1768 in Clermont- Ferrand, † March 15, 1852 in Paris) was a French composer and guitarist of the early Romantic period.

Antoine de Lhoyer came from a rural aristocracy dependent family of Auvergne. Among his most important teachers probably belonged to Pierre -Jean Porro. His life as a soldier of the royalist armies led him among other things to Koblenz and Vienna. He settled in 1800 for two years in Hamburg down, where some of his works were published. On the trip to Russia, he gave in December 1802 concert in Berlin. In St. Petersburg, he was active as a composer and guitarist in the environment of the Tsars court for ten years. Before the Russian campaign of Napoleon, he returned to France.

Lhoyer left a considerable amount of chamber music, which includes a total of 38 opus numbers; mainly are the works with guitar. Many of his works were devoted members of the Russian nobility. His works are propagated back 150 years after his death.
