Anton DoboÈ™

Anton Doboş ( born October 30, 1965 in Sarmasu ) is a former Romanian football player and functionary. He played a total of 268 games in the Romanian Divizia A and the Greek Alpha Ethniki. As an international, he took part in the European Football Championship in 1996 and the Football World Cup 1998.

Career

Association

The career of Doboş began in 1985 at Progresul Brăila in Divizia B. After a year he moved on to league rivals sticla ARIESUL Turda, before the first division club Universitatea Cluj joined in 1987. There he became the starting players. In the 1988/89 season he succeeded with his team on the final matchday of the league, before taking him to the top club Dinamo Bucharest under contract. There he won in 1990 with the double of league and cup his first title. During the winter break 1991/92 he moved to local rivals Steaua Bucharest. There he won in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996, four times the Romanian Championship and the Romanian Cup twice.

In the summer of 1996 left Doboş Romania when he hired in Greece with AEK Athens. There he won in 1997, the Greek Cup, but winning the championship was denied him. After two years, he ended his career in the summer of 1998. In the season 1999/2000 he returned briefly with second division Ethnikos Piraeus.

National

Doboş denied a total of 22 times for the Romanian national team. He made his debut on 22 September 1993 in a friendly against Israel, but more than a year of Anghel Iordănescu was not considered thereafter and returned in February 1995 back for two friendly matches. Again, it took almost a year before Iordănescu nominated him for the last European Championship qualifier against Slovakia on 15 November 1995. Then Doboş was a permanent guest in the national team. For the 1996 European Championships in England, he was indeed in the squad, but was not used. He had his last mission during the 1998 World Cup in France, when he played the last group match against Tunisia on 26 June.

Coach

Doboş was in 2003 and 2004 for a few games FCU Politehnica Timişoara coach in Divizia A.

Functionary

From 2002 to 2005 was president of the FCU Politehnica Timişoara Doboş, in 2007, he became president of Universitatea Cluj. After a serious car accident on 31 August 2008, in which he lost part of his memory, he had to withdraw.
