Antoni Peña

Antoni Peña (Catalan Antoni Peña Picó, Spanish Antonio Peña Pico; born August 26, 1970 in Felanitx ) is a retired Spanish long-distance runner, who had his greatest success in the marathon.

After he had become Thirteenth at the World Half Marathon Championships in 1992, he won shortly thereafter on his debut over the full distance the San Sebastián- Marathon in 2:11:35 h following year, he was discharged at the same place IAAF World Cup Marathon on the 19th Place and in the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994, he finished 32nd.

In 1997 he was in Sama (Langreo ) Spanish Marathon champion in 2:10:49 h and the following year he was in the marathon the European Championships in Budapest sixth. In 1999, he won the Calvia Marathon.

As a fifth of the Rotterdam Marathon in 2000, he remained with 2:08:59 hours for the first time under the 2:10 hour mark. In the same year he improved to second place of the Berlin Marathon in 2:07:47 h

In 2001 he had to 2:07:34 h on the current course record at Lake Biwa Marathon. It was the sixth fastest time of the year. In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton, he came on the 24th place. The following year he was fourth at the Amsterdam Marathon and 2003 he was runner-up at Lake Biwa and fourth at the Fukuoka Marathon.

In a marathon, the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he finished 18th in 2:16:38 h

2000, 2001 and 2005, he was national champion in the half marathon.

The athlete with the nickname "Toni" is 1,75 m tall and weighs 60 kg. He started for Nike Bowerman and was trained by Rafael Sánchez. He currently lives in Porto Colom on his home island of Mallorca.
