The Apenke is a left tributary of the Söse in Osterode am Harz in Lower Saxony.

Course

The Apenke rises south of Feenhöhe in the Bear Garden. It flows initially parallel to Eipenke in southwestern direction. In Augustental it is amplified by the outflow of the devil bathrooms. Subsequently, the Apenke flows to the northwest and feeds the Emperor pond and horse pond. In Petershütte district it flows into the Söse.

History

Previously used to force the flow of Apenke for driving various water wheels of gypsum, grain and saw mills. In 1991, the Apenke been contaminated in Osterode by releasing 8 m³ diesel fuel.
