The adjective apical (from the Latin apex "top" ) may refer to:

  • Anatomical in anatomy directed to a peak position or direction, see position and directional terms
  • In dentistry, a reference to the root tip, see position and directional terms on the teeth
  • In botany a reference to the growing tip of the shoot axis and apical meristem, which is also present in the roots except in the shoot
  • In coordination chemistry the outstanding position of a ligand
