Arani is a province in the central part of the Bolivian department of Cochabamba.

Location

The province is one of sixteen provinces in the high valley of the Vallo Alto in the department of Cochabamba. It is bordered to the west by the province Punata, to the south by the province Mizque, on the east by the province of Carrasco, and to the north by the province Tiraque.

The province extends approximately between 17 ° 31 'and 17 ° 43' south latitude and 65 ° 53 ' and 66 ° 15 ' west longitude, its extent from east to west is 30 kilometers from north to south, 20 km.

Population

The population of the province Arani has declined in the past two decades by about ewin fifth:

43.6 percent of the population are younger than 15 years, the literacy rate in the province is 68.0 percent. (1992)

52.7 percent of the population speak Spanish, 96.6 percent Quechua, Aymara and 0.4 percent. (1992)

66.6 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 88.2 percent have no sanitary facilities (1992).

90.4 percent of the population are Catholics, 8.6 percent are Protestant (1992).

The Arani Province is divided into two municipios:
