Arbus, Sardinia

Arbus is a municipality in the province of Medio Campidano on the Italian island of Sardinia.

Geography

Arbus is the second largest administrative unit of Sardinia with an area of 267 km ². The coast of Arbus ( Costa Verde ) extends over 47 km in length from Capo Frasca and Capo Pecora and has numerous beaches; from north to south: Capo Frasca, Pistis, Arbus, Porto Palma, Babari, Funtanazza, Gutturu Flumini (Marina di Arbus ), Portu Maga, Piscinas, Scivu and Capo Pecora.

History

Characteristic of Arbus is the wide coastal strip of the Costa Verde, which is characterized by its bays and archaeological sites such as the remains of structures of the Nuraghen from the Bronze Age, Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine ruins as well as Spanish pirates towers. Another attraction of Arbus region are the mines of Monte Vecchio.
