Archduke Joseph Karl of Austria

Archduke Joseph Karl Ludwig of Austria ( born March 2, 1833 in Bratislava, † June 13, 1905 in Fiume ) was the second son of Archduke Josef Anton and Maria Dorothea of Württemberg. He came from the Hungarian branch of the House of Habsburg -Lorraine.

He was born in Pozsony by Benedictine monks, including the later revolutionary and archeology pioneer Flóris Rómer (1815-1889), educated. In 1860 he began as a Major General, a military career, in which he was promoted to General of Cavalry until 1874. However, his passion was for Hungary and he published several works on the biology and language of the country.

Progeny

In 1864 he married Clotilde of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha, with whom he had the following children:
