General of the Cavalry (Germany)

General of Cavalry was a military rank in several European and overseas armies in the 18th, 19th and 20th century.

In the German states, Prussia, Bavaria, Württemberg and Saxony, also in Austria - Hungary, Great Britain, Russia, Spain and Japan, there were four General ranks: in ascending order of Major General, Lieutenant General, General of the cavalry, the infantry or artillery, and Colonel General. Furthermore, there was also sometimes a Field Marshal, in some countries called only Field Marshal or Marshal.

The Cavalry General ( Infantry, Artillery ) was usually the command of an army corps ( Commanding General ), or a high office entrusted.

There were also countries with only three general stages without the discussed rank, such as France and Italy, and those with only two rank classes, such as Belgium, Denmark and Mexico.
