Ardning is a municipality with 1206 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the upper Styria in the judicial district or county Lienzen.

Geography
Ardning located in the district Lienzen. The altitude is 696 meters. The total area is 34.03 km ². In order for the community Ardning is in area among the 51 municipalities of the district Liezen on 39th place in the municipal area of the Pürgschachen Moor, which stretches over a kilometer through the Enns Valley is located.

History
The origin of the borough's name is disputed. Is not unlikely that " Ardning " from the Slavic word " jar" for " ditch " or " ravine " is derived, which is supported by the geographical location. Ardning was first mentioned in 1077 as " arnich "
