Liezen with 6803 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) is a town in the Styrian Enns valley ( Austria ) and capital of the district Liezen, the largest district of Austria. Liezen is an industrial and administrative center. Authorities, which have their seat in Liezen, include the tax office and the district Liezen ( with political Expositur in Groebming ), the Baubezirksleitung, the district court ( court Liezen ) and the Survey Office.

Geography

The old industrial city of which, however, only a few old buildings are present, is at the northern edge of the Enns, about 1 km from the flood-prone banks of the Enns. In the valley widening at the foot of Phyrn Pass, which crosses the limestone Alps in Upper Austria, flows from the north of Phyrn Bach in the Enns. Directly upstream is Weissenbach ( on the same waters), which is indeed grown together with spatially Liezen, but forms a separate municipality.
