Ardon is a municipality in the district Conthey in the French speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Ardon is a wine-growing village in which a fendant is being expanded.

Geography

Ardon is on the north bank of the Rhone river and on the west bank of the Lizerne on the alluvial fan of the Lizerne about halfway between Sion and Martigny. The neighboring communities of Ardon are in the north Conthey, in the east Magnot, Nendaz in the south and west Chamoson.

History

The name Ardon is of Celtic origin.

Attractions

The place is located next to a rock breakthrough of the Lizerne a small hydroelectric plant. The river here comes from an inaccessible gorge, which begins in the basin of Derborence.
