Arirang

Arirang is the most popular folk song of the Koreans and was used at international sports events for pan- Korean teams as a substitute for the national anthem. After the song, the North Korean Arirang Festival is named. Since 2012, it is listed by UNESCO in the list of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

아리랑 고개 로 넘어 간다. 나를 버리고 가시는 님 은 십리 도 못 가서 발병 난다.

Arirang, Arirang, Arariyo ... Arirang gogaero neomeoganda. Nareul beorigo gasineun nimeun Simnido motgaseo balbyeongnanda.

Arirang, Arirang, Arariyo ... I cross the Arirang Pass. Who has left me If no ten Li go before his feet hurt.

Note: The word " Arariyo " is only used for acoustic reasons. Li is an old Korean length unit, which is about 400 m. In the original version, there are other two verses.
